Young girl faces charges

Published June 25. 2013 05:03PM

A 10-year-old Tamaqua girl faces charges in connection with a May 28 incident.

At 8:25 p.m. police were dispatched to a Pine Street address where they found a young girl lying on the sidewalk, crying and holding her stomach. The juvenile told officers she had been approached by a 10-year-old girl, who punched her in the head, then drew a stun gun. The taser device was pointed at the victim's stomach when the other girl activated it. The victim also had obvious swelling and discoloration to her left temple.

Witnesses related that the girl then stood on the sidewalk, taunting them and the victim.

After police consulted with the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office, the assailant faces a juvenile petition on charges of use/possession of an electronic incapacitation device, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, and harassment.
