Cyclist injured in Monroe crash

A motorcyclist sustained injuries in a crash that occurred about 9:58 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, along SR611 in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Matthew Rampola, of Tobyhanna, was northbound when a deer entered the road in front of him.

Rampola struck the deer causing him to lose control of the bike. The bike slid along the road for several hundred feet throwing Rampola to the ground. He sustained multiple injuries to his head and torso, police said.

He was transported by ambulance to the Community Medical Center, in Scranton.
