Two correction officers submit their resignations

Carbon County Commissioners on Thursday accepted the resignations of Justin R. Clarke, Brodheadsville, from his job as a part-time corrections officer, effective June 17; and of David E. Rogers, of Long Pond, from his job as corrections officer, effective June 5.

The county Prison Board appointed Stephanie J. Booth, Lehighton; Ryan J. Bortree, Lehighton; Jennifer L. Domines, Nesquehoning; Joseph M. Kiraly, Hazleton; Ronald C. Kusse, Lehighton; Angelo M. Rodriguez III, Port Carbon; Ruth A. Serafin, Effort; and Michael D. Smith, Barnesville, as part-time corrections officers, effective June 24.Commissioners also accepted changes of status of William H. Brack Jr., Mahanoy City, from part-time corrections officer to corrections officer, and of Renae R. George, Tobyhanna, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters; Heather L. Heffelfinger, Lansford, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters; Angelo M. Rodriguez III, Port Carbon, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters; and Ricky J. Velez, Lehighton, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters.All are effective as of July 8, except for Velez, whose change is effective as of July 1.Commissioners also approved an internship in the sheriff's office for Abigail Baptiste, Albrightsville. Baptiste is a criminal justice major at Bloomsburg University. She'll intern from June 24 through Aug. 26.They also approved seminar/training requests from the Area Agency on Aging: Cheri Mae Santore, PS Advanced Enrichment/ Supervisory Training, Center Valley. Costs are mileage and meals.
