DUI arrests reported in Monroe
Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made in separate incidents.
On June 8, about 9:25 p.m., officers were stopped at the intersection of Matthews Drive and SR115 in a patrol vehicles. Christopher Schroko, 44, of Blakeslee, driving a Honda Civic, was northbound on 115 and attempted to turn onto Matthews Drive. Schroko made the right but struck one of the police cruisers.
After impact Schroko did not stop and continued. Officers pursued Schroko and were able to stop him on Butte Drive. He showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken for a blood test, which revealed a .28BAC.
Schroko was charged with DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude police, accidents involving attended vehicles, and careless driving. He was committed to the county prison, police said.
The second incident occurred on June 13, about 12:15 a.m. along Mountain Road in Blakeslee. Police made a traffic stop for motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Richard Snyder, 44, of Albrightsville.
He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
