An inmate at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy, Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County, has been charged after a weapon was found in his cell.

State police at Frackville said a search team was assigned to search the cell of Marcelo O. Monzon, 24, at about noon on May 18. During the search, Monzon was found to be in possession of a weapon. The weapon was made from a hair brush which had the bristles removed and a lanyard tied to the end. The opposite end (handle end) was sharpened or honed to a point. The weapon measured about seven and a half inches in length, troopers said.

Monzon was charged with implements or weapons of escape. The charge was filed with District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah.
