LALLC celebrates charter and holds installation of officers

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club celebrated the chartering of its club and installation of 2013-2014 officers and new members last week at the annual Charter Night, held at Carbon Career and Technical Institute's Harvest Cafe.
Robert Neumoyer, PDG, was the installing officer. Also attending the meeting was Liz McElwee, vice district governor of 14-U.
Installed as officers were, Kimberly Babcock, president; Steven Anthony, vice president; Sue Anthony, secretary; Linda Benner, corresponding secretary; Gerry Andrews, treasurer; Barbara Christopher, co-treasurer; Brenda Green, chaplain and membership chairman; Richard Galloway, lion tamer; Pat Whitehead, tail twister; and trustees, Kay Teets, Alicia Silliman, Maggie Armbruster, Rose Galloway, Cleo Balliet, Lisa Whitehead, Barbara Walck and Betty Wagner.
Neumoyer, assisted by McElwee installed new members, Amy Long, sponsored by Linda Benner; Wendy Green, sponsored by Linda Green; Barbara Walck and Megan Walck, sponsored by Gerry Andrews.
McElwee presented an Excellence Certificate to Sue Anthony, club secretary, for her dedicated service to the club and for consistently submitting her monthly reports in the past year.
The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club is an active group. Each month members collect used eyeglasses from various locations and also collect money at each meeting for the local food panty.
Fundraisers include: Polka for Pets, Carbon County Fair and Palmerton Festival, Dog Days in the Park and they sold food at Yensers Tree Farm,
The club sponsors and organizes the annual Pink Light Walk, hosts the annual Halloween Spooktacular, Breakfast With Santa and community Bunny Lunch.
They gave donations to Lehighton Pool Pals, Lehighton Police Department, Lehighton Fire Co. and Lehighton Library, Toys for Tots and Marine Corps League Literacy program and dog food to the Amazing Grace program.
They also took part in two Lions International project, Reading Action Program and the Sharing the Vision program.
To celebrate Valentine's Day for seniors, they deliver valentines and a gift to residents of two nursing homes.
Members also volunteer to answer phones at the American Cancer Society telethon and host a dinner for 100 plus needy members of the community at Zion Church.
They have recently donated a bench, chair and arbor to the Lehighton Area Middle School Environmental Center and sponsored two students from Lehighton Area High School to attend Youth Seminar.
