Female passenger ejected in West Penn crash

Emergency personnel were called to Penn Drive (SR443), near the intersection of Villas Crossing, around 4:30 p.m. yesterday following a motor vehicle accident involving a two older teenagers.

Police reported that Garred Ahner, 19, of Andreas, was traveling west on SR443 in a Hyundai Tuscania, when he hydroplaned, hit a concrete culvert, spun around and then struck a pole. Also suffering unknown injuries was female passenger Jordan Leibenguth, 19, of Tamaqua, who was ejected from the vehicle as it spun. Police added that neither was wearing a seatbelt. Ahner and Leibenguth, who were transported to St. Luke's Hospital via ambulance following the accident, were recovering at home as of this morning. Responding were West Penn Township Police, West Penn Fire Company No. 1, Penn Mahoning Ambulance, Lehighton Ambulance and Tamaqua Ambulance. West Penn Fire Police volunteers controlled traffic around the scene.
