Tamaqua's Kosciolek, PV's Hrbek earn Carpenter Cup spots

Tamaqua's Brett Kosciolek and Pleasant Valley's Dan Hrbek have been named to the 2013 Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup roster.

Kosciolek led the Raiders with a .420 batting average, eight home runs and 27 RBIs.He was also dominant on the mound, compiling a 7-1 record with a 1.13 ERA in 49 innings pitched.Hrbek was a rock for the Bears' pitching staff, going 4-2 with a 1.45 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched.Lehigh Valley opens play June 17th at 12:30 p.m. vs. Delaware-South at Ashburn Field in FDR Park in Philadelphia.If Lehigh Valley wins its opener, potential remaining games will be June 21st (10:30 a.m.) vs. the winner of the Olympic Colonial-SOL National-Bicentennial at Ashburn Field; June 24th (9:30 a.m.) semifinals at Citizens Bank Park; and June 25th (10 a.m.) championship game at Citizens Bank Park.Lehigh Valley will hold its final team practices June 9th, 15th and 16th at DeSales University.This will be the Lehigh Valley's 21st season in the tournament, which is in its 28th year.In 20 years of participation, the Lehigh Valley team is 29-17, with three championships (1998, 2001 and 2011). Lehigh Valley was also in the title game in 2008.
