Carbon Commissioners act on personnel matters
Carbon County commissioners on Thursday acted on a number of personnel moves:
They accepted the resignation, effective May 30, of aging case aide II Susan E. Ritchie, Palmerton, from the Area Agency on Aging; hired Erica M. Sorrentino, Lehighton, as a caseworker I, Children and Youth Services, effective June 24; appointed Bryan P. Price and Nicholas M. DeMaio, both of Jim Thorpe, to the position of corrections officers at the county prison, effective June 17; and Jacqueline J. Uber, Jim Thorpe, as a part-time cook at the prison, effective June 10.
Commissioners granted a seminar/training request to Renee Roberts of the Tax Claim Bureau to attend the Pennsylvania Tax Claim Bureau Association's fall conference in Sayre, Bradford County. The cost is a $750 conference fee plus mileage.
Commissioners also acknowledged the attendance of Toby Butz of the Adult Probation Department for his attendance at the Basic Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County. The county paid the cost of his meals.
They acknowledged the attendance of Joseph A. Greco and Paul Zona of Juvenile court, who attended the Third Annual Pennsylvania Gangs, Drugs and Crime Prevention symposium in Altoona, Blair County. The cost was a $175 conference fee, plus lodging, mileage and meals.
Also on Thursday, the county Salary Board agreed to the following actions:
• To establish the position of part-time legal secretary in the public defenders office at $9.91 an hour, effective June 6. The job does not include a retirement plan because it will involve fewer than 1,000 work hours;
• Establish the position of one part-time cleaning person in the Buildings & Grounds Department, at $9.45 an hour, effective June 6. The job does not include a retirement plan because it will involve fewer than 1,000 work hours;
• Establish the position of one Children and Youth Services caseworker I at $13.29 an hour, effective June 6; and abolish one position of caseworker II, at $16 an hour, also effective June 6.
