Tamaqua police received an alert from West Penn Township Police at 3:20 p.m. concerning a motorist who was driving erratically and at a high rate of speed, in a blue Honda Element. The Honda was traveling north on SR309, also reportedly cutting off other motorists.

The suspect vehicle was located and stopped with the driver being identified as Davis. An empty vodka bottle was found in the rear of the vehicle.

Davis was given, and failed, field sobriety tests. He was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for blood tests. The tests indicated a .146 blood alcohol content.
