CART seeking funds for pet oxygen masks

Published June 04. 2013 05:02PM

Carbon CART (County Animal Response Team) is looking to the community to help raise enough money to be able to purchase Wag'N Fur Life Kits, oxygen mask kits for animals. The hope is to be able to buy a kit for every fire company in the county.

Far too many pets die unnecessarily each year from smoke asphyxiation and carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of house fires. Even when firefighters are able to get the pets out safely, they are quite often unable to revive them with the proper equipment. Pet oxygen masks can make the difference. A Wag'N Fur Life kit could save your pet someday.

The kit, which costs $75, tax deductible, includes: three oxygen masks (small, medium, large); three oxygen air tubes, one for each mask; one Wag'N Fur Life carry bag for storage; one laminated instruction sheet (includes ABCs of CPR for pets); one Wag'N leash (for animal restraint and control); two pet oxygen Masks decals for display on vehicle/department; one power point presentation for personnel training; one Wag'N instructional DVD "Pets Need Oxygen Too!"; two Animal Incident Report (AIR) forms for first responders; Pet Rescue Notice Form (printable document, PDF).

If you would like to make a donation, please send to Carbon CART, 1234 Emergency Lane, Nesquehoning, PA 18240. Checks can be made out to PaSART.

If you'd like to learn more about Carbon CART, they meet at the EMA building in Nesquehoning every fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
