God wastes nothing.

Neither, then, should members of the Palmerton Area High School Class of 2013, which held its Baccalaureate Service Sunday at Blue Mountain Community Church in Palmerton.

Pastor Jennifer Eckhart gave the Call to Worship. Eckhart told the students they shouldn't be afraid to fail, because failure is a constant in life, and that fear can be overcome by faith.

The Blue Mountain Community Church Praise Team sang "How Great thou Art".

Senior Jessica Pereira gave the Prayer of the Day.

The first reading of: Psalm 1:1-3 was ready by seniors Morgan Mummey and Kyla Rodrigues.

A rendition of "A Simple Song" by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Schwartz was performed by senior Laurel Seemiller.

The second lesson of Philippians 4:4-9 was read by seniors Meghan Dailey, Sydni Jordan and Joelle Reinhart.

Seniors Michayla Doherty, Samantha Doherty, Maria Martinez and Seemiller were accompanied by PAHS Class of 2012 graduate Lydia Anthony as they sang "Broken Hallelujah".

Eckhart then shared a message with the students, at which time she encouraged them to keep a journal.

"You are never alone," Eckhart said. "You guys have an awesome life ahead of you."

Senior Lauryn Solt then introduced the Keynote Speaker, Tammy Recker.

Recker, a teacher who also serves as president of Palmerton Area School Board, told the students she has a lesson plan book that she is to follow for 180 days.

However, Recker noted that following the lesson plan doesn't always work, and that at times, it's necessary to take a detour from that plan.

Recker then told the group they had the most personality that she could recall since the graduation Class of 2007.

She stressed how important it is for the students to have a plan for where they're going.

"Always know where you are going," Recker said. "Have that plan."

Recker then concurred with Eckhart's message that "God wastes nothing."

Michayla Doherty and Martinez then performed "For Good", from the Broadway Musical WICKED.

The lord's prayer was led by senior Jacob Christman.

Eckhart then gave the benediction.

The BMCC Praise Team then performed the song "Happy Day".

That was followed by the Recessional and Postlude.

Commencement exercises for the Palmerton Area High School Class of 2013 will be held this evening at 7 p.m. at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.
