Two persons hurt in Kline accident

Published July 30. 2013 05:03PM

Two persons sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 2:12 p.m. July 27 on the ramp from SR309 (McAdoo) onto Interstate 81 in Kline Township. A photograph of the accident scene appeared on page 2 of yesterday's TIMES NEWS.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Anthony T. Margelewicz, 62, of Nanticoke, the driver of the vehicle, and Wallace E. Hart, 77, of Nescopeck, his passenger, were transported to the Hazleton General Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Police said Margelewicz was driving a 2009 Toyota Tacoma on the ramp in an attempt to travel north on the interstate when he steered to the left and the vehicle went off the ramp and struck a PennDOT sign and a guide rail. The impact caused the vehicle to turn clockwise and strike a second sign before coming to a halt.

Police said the investigation revealed the driver had a medical condition which caused the crash. No charges will be filed.
