Published July 30. 2013 05:02PM

Pocono Mountain Regional police arrested Richard and Geraldine Bailey of Pocono Summit on charges of abandonment of animals under the Commonwealth Dog Law.

Police said the charges relate to the recovery of two stray dogs on July 26-27 in the Long Pond area.

Police said at 6:30 a.m. July 26, police recovered a stray male dog on Summit View Lane, and on the next day they found a stray female dog in the same area. The dogs were the same breed and color and neither was wearing identification, police said.

The followup investigation traced the dogs to the Baileys' residence. Police said they admitted to not being able to care for the two dogs and told police they took them to the Long Pond area and left them there.
