State Democratic Party chairman, gov. candidates to be in Carbon
The chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and several candidates for Pennsylvania governor in 2014 will be in Carbon County on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Billy O'Gurek of Summit Hill, chairman of the Democratic Party of Carbon County, said party members will have the opportunity to meet Jim Burn of Allegheny County when the statewide party leader attends the annual picnic the county's executive committee holds on the first Thursday in August each year.
That event is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. next Thursday at Jim Thorpe's Memorial Park.
In addition to Burn attending, three candidates for the governor's office have confirmed their attendance. They include Tom Wolf, a York County businessman and former Secretary of the Pa. Department of Revenue; John Hanger, former Secretary of the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection; and Max Myers, a pastor from Mechanicsburg.
Tickets to the event are available from any member of the Democratic Executive Committee.
