Published July 26. 2013 05:03PM

Injuries were averted in a two-vehicle mishap that happened at 2:45 p.m. July 24 at the intersection of Dad Burnhams and Ferebees roads in Washington Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said the crash happened when a 2008 Ford Focus operated by Camille McGonigle, 24, of Pottsville, traveling west on Ferebees Road, failed to stop at the intersection and struck a 2006 Ford Escape operated by Helen Willis, 46, of Schuylkill Haven, which was northbound on Dad Burnhams Road. Police said the Escape continued through the intersection and went through a flower bed at a nearby residence before coming to a halt on the front lawn. The Focus spun clockwise and came to rest facing north on Dad Burnhams Road.

Police said McGonigle will be cited for causing the accident.
