Sandstorm still in driver's seat

Despite suffering its first loss of the season, Sandstorm won two of three games against Valley Athletic Supply to remain in the driver's seat of the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) summer volleyball league.

With just over a week remaining in the regular season, six teams have already clinched playoff berths, while three teams (Anything But Net, VBC Tomahawks-High School and Intensity) fight it out for the two remaining playoff spots.


Can U Dig It-VBC Tomahawks Seniors

VBC Tomahawks-Seniors started off the week with a three game sweep over Can U Dig It (25-17, 25-15, 25-19).

TJ O'Connor reeled off 14 service points, including nine aces, to lead the Tomahawks.

Tricia McEmoyle scored six service points for Can U Dig It.


-Hope Wreckers

Intensity took two out of three games from Hope Wreckers by final scores of 25-13, 25-14, 23-25.

Chris Hartung had four service points to pace Intensity.

For Hope Wreckers, Jamie Ramer's three service points led the way.

Valley Athletic Supply

-Anything But Net

Valley Athletic Supply ended the night by cruising to a 25-12, 25-21, 25-13 victory over Anything But Net.

Jason Boris rattled off 21 service points to lead Valley Athletic in the sweep.

Connor Trainer tacked on seven points for Anything But Net.

In perhaps the biggest matchup of the regular season, Sandstorm positioned itself for the top overall seed in the upcoming playoffs by defeating Valley Athletic Supply in two out of three games (25-22, 15-25, 25-21). The loss in game two was Sandstorm's (17-1) first setback of the season.

Kyle Nevenglosky tallied 10 service points for Sandstorm.

For Valley Athletic Supply, Sarah Palluck's 14 points led the way.

Victorious Secret

-VBC Tomahawks VBC Tomahawks-Seniors posted a three-game sweep over Victorious Secret by final scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-18.

Jess McCarroll's 13 service points topped all Tomahawk players.

Devin Parambo notched 15 service points to pace Victorious Secret.

-Anything But Net

In the final match of the week, Anything But Net posted its first sweep of the season - a 25-11, 26-24, 25-20 victory over VBC Tomahawks-High School.

Abby Owsinski led Anything But Net with 10 service points.

For VBC Tomahawks-High School, Holly Hinkle served off five points in the losing effort.
