Stower's earns top playoff seed

With a 65-51 victory over Ryan's Oil & Heating, Mike Stower's Coal & Oil capped off a perfect regular season (8-0) and earned the top overall seed (and a first round bye) for this week's playoffs.

Defending League Champion Ryan's finished as the second seed and also secured a first round bye.

R.R. Frey Services, DJ 101, Batter's Box and Vesuvio's round out the playoff field and those four teams will all be in action on Monday night, as the ESRC playoffs begin at 6:30 p.m. at the North and Middle Ward Playground in Tamaqua.



R.R. Frey Services

In a quarterfinal round preview game, R.R. Frey Services knocked off Vesuvio's by a final score of 72-65.

Jeremy Frey had 24 points to lead R.R. Frey, while Jimmy Barron added 17 points of his own.

For Vesuvio's, Mike DeMarco tallied 15 points in the losing effort.

DJ 101-Batter's Box

In the second quarterfinal round preview game, DJ 101 recorded a 66-48 victory over Batter's Box.

Jordan Wartman paced DJ 101 with 18 points.

Erick Trabal scored a game-high 19 points for Batter's Box.

Stower's Coal & Oil-Ryan's Oil & Heating

In a battle featuring the top two seeds in the league, Mike Stower's Coal & Oil capped off an undefeated season and locked up the top overall seed for playoffs with a 65-51 victory over defending league champion Ryan's Oil & Heating.

Damian Fritz dominated the lane and scored 20 points to lead Mike Stower's.

For Ryan's, Joe Schaeffer came away with 11 points in the loss.


Ziegler's Auto Repair-Batter's Box

Batter's Box started off Wednesday's action with an easy 83-56 victory over Ziegler's Auto Repair & Towing.

Aaron Mantz posted a game-high 28 points on the night, while Kyle McGee was right behind with 24 points of his own.

For Ziegler's, Mike Kunkel's 25 points led the way in the losing effort.

Ryan's Oil & Heating-Vesuvio's

Ryan's Oil & Heating secured a first round bye in next week's playoffs with a 70-63 victory over Vesuvio's.

League three-point leader Joe Schaeffer drained five treys and Kieran Conway scored 16 points to lead Ryan's.

Dan Maguschak chipped in with 18 points to pace Vesuvio's.

Lucky's Deli-Dom N Ali

In the final game of the regular season, Lucky's Deli needed double overtime to defeat Dom N Ali Steaks & Seafood by a final score of 66-63.

For Lucky's Deli, Eric Carter led the way with 18 points and Ed Michalik added 17 of his own.

Mike Taylor scored 20 points to lead Dom N Ali's.
