Joshua P. Correll, 32, of Arizona, formerly of Albrightsville, is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, awaitng court proceedings against him on charges relating to a robbery that happened on Oct. 29, 2012.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said he was arraigned on charges of theft, a felony two, and criminal attempt to commit robbery, graded as a felony three, at 2 p.m. July 8 at the Pocono Township police headquarters.

Township police assisted Pocono Regional officers in serving an arrest warrant on Correll, who is accused of attempting a strong-arm robbery at the Dollar General Store in Blakeslee last October during a hurricane that struck the region. At that time, a male entered the store, brought an item to the register and attempted to steal money from the cash drawer when a cashier opened the register. The employees were able to foil the robbery attempt and the male fled the scene.

Police said their investigation revealed Correll to be the attempted robber, although attempts to locate him were unsuccessful until recently when authorities learned he was in Scotsdale, Ariz.
