Carbon woman facing charges

A Carbon Coun ty woman is facing charges following incidents that occurred early on Thursday, July 4.

State police at Lehighton said Amber B. Knappenberger, 32, of Jim Thorpe, was stopped about 2:37 a.m. along SR209 near the Packerton Dip, in Mahoning Township, for a vehicle code violation. She was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

While at the Lehighton hospital, where she was taken for a blood test, she continually caused disturbances, screaming at personnel and patients, along with resisting troopers both going in and out of the hospital.

At one point she attempted to escape from the police cruiser while it was en route to the barracks, while still handcuffed.

Knappenberger was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, attempting to escape, and disorderly conduct.
