Children who live in the Lansford Townhouses are being offered a summer enrichment program that includes reading and movies.

The programs alternate on Tuesdays throughout the summer. The program kicked off on Tuesday with story time. Children listened to stories, and then chose books and read them, either by themselves or with help from volunteers.

The programs include a healthy snack and are held at 2 p.m. in the all-purpose room in the Townhouses' office.

Townhouses manager Tammy Anthony said the Interstate Realty Management Company, which manages the complex, encouraged the program because it wants to "help people to have better lives."
