TSMA kicks off cruise season
DONALD R. SERFASS/TIMES NEWS The weather turned out fine for the Tamaqua Street Machine Association's inaugural cruise of the season, held Saturday at Heisler's Dairy Bar, Tamaqua, much to the delight of car enthusiasts.
The Tamaqua Street Machine Association shifted into high gear over the weekend with its inaugural cruise of the season.
The event, held Saturday at Heisler's Dairy Bar, 743 Catawissa Road, Tamaqua, drew close to 40 cars despite the weekend's unpredictable weather pattern.
The standing cruise was offered free to the public and featured music, door prizes, dash plaques and a TSMA Choice Award. Similar cruises are set for Saturday, July 27 and Saturday, August 17, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The TSMA also hosted their annual Summerfest Car Show on Sunday, June 16 as part of the Tamaqua Summerfest.
In addition, there are plans for the TSMA to host the Alzheimer's Family Fun Festival Car Cruise at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, 625 Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe. That event will take place on Saturday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
The Jim Thorpe cruise will be held in tandem with a Walk to End Alzheimer's, and will include a full day of activities under the banner of "Making family memories for families and friends of those who have lost theirs."
