Schuylkill Communication Center back on following short outage

Published January 31. 2013 05:02PM

The Schuylkill 911 Center was down for about an hour yesterday afternoon following a recent power interruption.

"After the recent power interruption, there was a short period of time when the 911 lines into the Schuylkill County Communications Center were inoperable," said John Matz, coordinator, Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency. "During the brief restoration period, persons may have had problems when dialing 911, such as a busy signal."

During the outage dispatchers told all Schuylkill fire and ambulance stations to man their stations and phone lines, as they were unable to receive both emergency and non-emergency phone calls during the outage. Emergency responders were also given direct numbers to the communication center. They also stated for emergency personnel to utilize pull boxes, as they still worked during the outage.

"The situation has been corrected and all 911 circuits are functional," added Matz. "If any sporadic problems remain, please report the problem via (570) 628-3792."
