Pedestrian struck in Giant lot

Mahoning Township police are investigating an accident in which a pedestrian was struck near the west entrance of the Giant Food Store Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. when a male was struck by a car operated by a female driver. Reports from the scene were the victim was found lying on the ground. After the impact the car continued on into a column of the store's façade. The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Lehighton Ambulance and Lehighton paramedics then transported to an area medical facility.
