Tamaqua resident Christian Berg, the editor of "Petersen's Bowhunting" magazine, is organizing a Deer Hunter's Banquet, Saturday, March 2, beginning at 6 p.m., at Community Fire Company, Landingville, to benefit Kimmel's Church of Orwigsburg.
Guest speaker is whitetail biologist Grant Woods, the host of Growing Deer TV (http://www.growingdeer.tv/) and columnist for the magazine. In addition to his Web show, Woods is president of Woods and Associates, which develops deer-management plans for clients across the nation.
Woods is a past board member of the Quality Deer Management Association and manages his own 1,500-acre property The Proving Grounds in Missouri. At the banquet, he will give a multimedia presentation on "Finding, Patterning and Hunting Mature Bucks," specifically focusing on trail camera techniques hunters can use to locate, hunt and kill big whitetails in their hunting areas.
"In addition to Grant's presentation, we will be giving away scores of door prizes, including a Diamond compound bow, Carbon Express crossbow, trail cameras, Cabela's gift cards and much more," Berg said. "Because this is a church outreach event, we are not selling raffle tickets. But everyone will have a chance at the door prizes through their banquet ticket."
For information and reservations call Berg at (717) 877-7448.
