Jim Thorpe police have charged a Carbon County man with a bad check count.

Police said on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, they received a complaint form Joseph Marzen, who is co-owner of Marzen Hardware, located at 315 Center St., regarding a bad check.

According to Marzen the store received a check for $328.60 on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, from Scott J. Young, 25, of 106 Byron Lane, Albrightsville, for copper piping. Marzen further stated that the check was returned for insufficient funds.

A certified letter was sent to Young, however, no payment was ever made. The charge, a misdemeanor two, was filed against Young after several attempts were made to contact him regarding the incident, police said.
