Concourse Club names Guiding Star for January

Laurel Rose Seemiller of Lehighton is the Concourse Club of Palmerton's Guiding Star for January.

A Palmerton Area High School senior, she is a member of Mock Trial, Scholastic Scrimmage, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, stage crew, Student Government, band and chorus.

A talented musician, Laurel sang a solo for the club and played a piece on the French horn. She plays in the Palmerton Community Band and the Lehighton Community Band.

She has been selected to participate in District Chorus and Regional Band.

She is the daughter of Joseph and Linda Seemiller. She says her brothers, Joseph and Kevin, have been role models for her.

Laurel plans to attend a four-year college to study biomedical engineering.

A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class, and involved in both school and community activities.

Each Guiding Star receives a certificate, an engraved gold Guiding Star charm and a $100 cash award from the club.
