It's a new year and maybe it's time for a new 'do.

Find your next great hairstyle at the Styling Zone, 131 S. First St., Lehighton, (formerly known as Renee's.)

Tracie Saunders, the new owner, has taken over the Renees location to provide the Lehighton community with a great new hair styling salon.

Her prices are reasonable and she has hours that will suit almost anyone. She does hair cuts for men, women and children. She offers roller sets, color, cuts, perm, low lites and up dos. She also offers waxings. She accepts walk ins and offers appointments.

Her hours are Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursdays, by appointment; Friday, 4 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 610-377-0317.

Saunders received her beauty school education from Lehigh Carbon Vocational Technical School while she was still a student at Northern Lehigh High School. She grew up in Slatington and now lives in Lehighton.

"This is something I've always wanted to do since I was a little girl," she said. "I found out in high school that this would be my career choice when we did rotations."

Saunders is married and has two stepchildren and a daughter, 8.

"I've been working in Bethlehem, but I wanted to be closer to home," she said. "As soon as this building became available, I decided that it was time to make the change."

Saunders officially opened for business on Jan. 2, 2013, and is happily waiting to meet members of the local community.

"I am waiting to meet new faces," she said.

"I am familiar with all the new hairstyles and can do most anything people want," she said. She does have a special place in her heart for the older clientele.

"I love doing the roller sets that the older ladies like," she said. "But each day is different and it keeps me interested."

She uses professional Matrix beauty products for washing, conditioning and coloring hair.
