One of two drivers involved in a crash in Schuylkill County on Thursday, Jan. 10, was flown by helicopter to a hospital. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 7:12 p.m. along Schwenks Road, east of Hill Drive, in Hubley Township.

Troopers said a 17-year-old female from Sacramento, Schuylkill County, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound and just finished negotiating a curve when she crossed over into the westbound lane and struck the drivers side front end of a 2007 Ford Focus operated by Amy M. Stoneroad, 31, of Dalmatia, Northumberland County.

After impact the Cavalier spun counter-clockwise and came to rest about 18-feet from the initial point of impact. The Focus also spun counter-clockwise and came to rest 16 feet from the point of impact.

Stoneroad was trapped in her vehicle and had to be freed by rescue personnel. She was flown by Lifeflight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of what troopers said was a moderate injury. The teen driver sustained a minor injury.

Troopers cited the teen for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
