Young woman injured in Mahoning accident

A young woman was seriously injured Tuesday evening when involved in a violent car crash in Mahoning Township. The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. along Laurel Road one half mile north of Mahoning Drive (SR902). Police believe the woman was traveling south when she lost control of her car sending it into the east berm where it impacted with a large tree. The victim was extricated from the wreckage by members of the Mahoning Valley fire company. She was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center. Mahoning Township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. Mahoning township police are investigating the incident.
