Two charged with thefts in McAdoo
McAdoo Police have charged two residents of the community in connection with a series of recent thefts in the borough.
Officer Anthony DiVirgilio was investigating a string of thefts from motor vehicles, reviewing surveillance tapes from the areas in question, when he was able to identify one of the suspects, Brianna Taylor of 21 S. Kennedy Dr.
Taylor was contacted and agreed to come to the station for an interview. She was accompanied by her boyfriend, Jeremy Shafer, also of 21 S. Kennedy Dr. Both received their Miranda warnings and were questioned concerning the thefts.
Confronted with the video evidence, Taylor and Shafer confessed. Both claimed to be unemployed and resorted to theft in order to provide Christmas presents for their child. Part of the video detailed Taylor using credit cards stolen from one of the vehicles to purchase cigarettes.
In all, the duo was linked to 14 robberies, including one involving a handgun. They were both charged with felony counts of theft of a handgun and forgery, as well as conspiracy.
