Lehighton woman jailed on charges

A Lehighton woman was jailed recently on several charges following an incident in the borough.

Police said they responded on Saturday, Dec. 29, about 5:12 p.m. to the area of S. First and Iron sts., to a report of a female with a knife who was slashing tires.

On scene police found Crystal Dorward, 48, of 222 S. Sixth St.

Police said Dorward allegedly threatened Richard Hauser, of 123 Iron St., with a knife and also slashed a tire on his vehicle. When police attempted to take her into custody she resisted.

Police said Dorward was charged with resisting arrest, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, and public drunkenness.

She was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
