Driver injured after colliding with flatbed trailer

A man was injured after his vehicle collided with a flatbed trailer around 5:30 p.m. yesterday along SR309 in West Penn. The incident occurred as the flatbed truck pulled out of the Fegley's Gas Station in South Tamaqua and was impacted on the side by a red Dodge Grand Caravan traveling south on SR309. Little visible damage was done to the tractor trailer, although the van was totaled. The truck driver wasn't injured, while the driver of the van, the only person in the vehicle, was treated by paramedics and placed in a Penn Mahoning Ambulance for transport to St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale. Paramedics could be seen placing a stint on the man's leg. The man's injuries didn't appear life threatening, as the injured man was seen talking on his cell phone. Also responding were West Penn Fire Company, Tamaqua Rescue and West Penn Police. No information was available from police as of press time.
