Police from Schuylkill and Carbon counties responded to a report of "shots fired" Tuesday night along SR443 in West Penn Township. A motorist reported he was traveling east near Sandy's Show Bar in the village of Mantzville when at least one shot struck his car. He raced to a business along Rex Road in Mahoning Township where he called authorities. Police from West Penn and Mahoning townships, Summit Hill, and Lehighton responded to the scene along with state troopers from the Frackville barracks. Police did find damage to the roof of the car and are continuing their investigation. West Penn Township Chief of Police Brian Johnson reports the incident is now being treated as a high priority case. Johnson also added he believes the event is an isolated incident and that residents of the Mantzville area have no need to fear. Township police forensic officer Jason Lorah is processing the car in question and continuing the investigation.
