Published January 02. 2013 05:02PM

Two South Carolina residents escaped injury in a weather-related crash at 5:57 p.m. Dec. 30 on Interstate 81 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville said William J. Murtagh, 54, the driver of the vehicle, and Renee Murtagh, 53, his passenger, were unhurt in the crash.

Police said they were southbound when a large exit sign and attached I-beam posts blew down due to heavy winds and came to rest across the southbound lanes. Police said several vehicles struck the sign, including Murtagh's 2002 Ford Expedition, which had its right side tires blow out causing wheel and body damages. The vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
