The Palmerton Area Democratic Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Fireline Hotel in Bowmanstown. The topic will be "Our New Year Message to Governor Corbett and the Pennsylvania Legislature."

"With the media focused on legislative dysfunction in Washington, it's easy to lose track of legislative issues in our own Pennsylvania legislature that will impact us right here at home," said club President, Sarina Berlow. "Those attending are asked to come prepared to discuss what legislative priorities you would like to see in the 2013 Pennsylvania legislature."Members are reminded that the PADC continues to support the Food Bank run by the Community Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches (CACPAC) by bringing canned goods to be donated to each meeting.New officers elected for 2013 at the PADC annual meeting held Dec. 13, include Sarina Berlow, president; Sandi Peters, vice president; Mari Seib, secretary; and Janine Carazo, treasurer; to replace retiring secretary and treasurer, Marian Hoffner and Steve Agostinelli.The area covered by the club includes Palmerton, Bowmanstown, Towamensing Township and Lower Towamensing Township. Meetings are monthly, the second Tuesday of the month, September to May, at 7 p.m. at the Fireline Hotel in Bowmanstown. Annual dues are $1 per year, due Jan. 1.
