Boulder causes two crashes

A boulder dislodged from a mountain side along a Schuylkill County road and caused crashes involving two vehicles. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 10:20 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, along SR61 in Port Clinton.

Troopers said Laundan Seigfried, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR northbound when the three by three-foot boulder dislodged and rolled onto the road. Seigfried attempted to avoid the boulder but could not and it struck the driver side front end. After that impact the boulder continued to roll across the southbound lanes and struck the passenger side front of a 2012 International Prostart truck tractor operated by Robert Hull, of Waynesburg, Greene County, who was southbound. No one was injured but damages were disabling to both vehicles, troopers said.
