Brian G. Barto, 47, of Schnecksville, died Friday afternoon after losing lost control of a propane truck, owned by Sharp Energy of Allentown, and rolled the unit along Gun Club Road in the New Tripoli section of Lynn Township, Lehigh County. The story appeared in Saturday's TIMES NEWS. After flipping on its side, the truck continued into a set of trees; completely crushing the cab. It took about five hours to extricate Barto from the truck. Firefighters and hazmat teams, worried about a possible explosion, provided water suppression during the rescue and vehicle removal. It took an additional three hours for Soley's Towing to remove the truck. Responding were fire companies from New Tripoli, Weisenberg, West Penn, Germansville, Lynnport, East Penn, Fogelsville, Kempton and Schnecksville. Also responding were Carbon County EMA/Hazmat team, Lynn Township workers - who laid salt and Bailey's Tree Service who cut the trees from the truck. Fire police from West Penn and New Tripoli controlled traffic during the response. "Our department really appreciated the mutual aid provided by surrounding companies," said Peter Christ, Incident Commander, New Tripoli Fire Company.
