Shoplifting dare leads to arrest

Published February 23. 2013 09:02AM

A Shenandoah teen visiting with local friends last weekend ended up in police custody after he reportedly accepted a dare to shop lift.

Officers were called to the M and S Hardware Store, 10 W. Broad St., at 1:57 p.m. for a retail theft. Store personnel had detained a 15 year old male who tried to steal pocket knives and two types of lighters. The teen said he did it on a dare, but refused to name the person(s) who issued the dare.

He was cited for retail theft.
