Burglaries, theft incidents probed

State police at Lehighton reported investigating two break-ins and theft incidents.

The residence of Steven Edwin Thompson, 50, of 219 White St., Weissport, was entered sometime between 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Removed from the home was oxycodone pills, troopers said.

The residence of Bettie Loraine Kunkle, 79, and Joseph Andrew Kunkle, 72, at 175 Haney Rd., Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, was entered sometime between Feb. 3 and 15. Removed was jewelry and small items. Entry was gained through a ground level window, troopers said.

Kirk Fredrick Schwartz, 43, of 100 Sweet Briar Lane, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, reported someone took pieces of scrap metal from his property sometime between Feb. 11 and 14. Value of the items was estimated at $400.

Leroy H. Hawk, 67, of 1154 Princess Run Rd., Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County, reported someone removed a metal radiator from the front yard of his property. The theft occurred about 5 p.m. on Feb. 14.

A 27-ton gas log splitter was reportedly removed from a property along Long Mountain Road, in Polk Township, sometime around 12:05 a.m. on Feb. 15. The splitter is red and black in color and is powered by a Honda motor.
