Dictionaries for PVE third graders

Published February 14. 2013 05:02PM

Roger Pomposello, Pleasant Valley Elementary School's Dean of Students welcomed the West End Rotary Club (WERC) and told the third grade students that they were there for an "Awesome, awesome reason. A free gift, and any free gift is awesome, right?" to which the students gave an enthusiastic "Yes" response. Left, Jill Rehrig, president of WERC, helped distribute dictionaries to every third-grade student at Pleasant Valley Elementary School. She was assisted by WERC members Honi Grasing, Elaine Ackroyd-Kelly and Joanie Loveless. Grasing got the kids to guess how many letters are in the longest word in the English language, which is 1,909 letters. This is one of WERC's favorite events of the year.
