The winning bidder for the Nesquehoning Water Authority's water tank project was awarded last night during the regular monthly meeting.

Eleven base bids, including three alternates, were received and opened during a special meeting on Jan. 28. Three bids contained mathematical errors which were later corrected.

Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. came in as the lowest bidder at $1,292,472.05.

Solicitor Robert Yurchak will contact the Jim Thorpe National Bank to begin drawing on funds to pay for soft costs, such as engineering fees that have already been incurred. The balance of the project will be paid by grant funds.

Authority members voted and approved the final adoption of the budget for year ending Sept. 30, 2013, which lists total estimated revenues at $765,000, and total operating expenses of $474,940, with a debt service provision of $290,125, resulting in a budget deficit of $65.

In other matters, authority President David Hawk, announced that William Hausman had been reappointed by borough council for another five-year term on the authority. Authority members then voted to retain all officers as they presently exist as well as to retain all employees along with the retention of solicitor Yurchak.
