Palmerton Area Democratic Club to discuss issues facing Palmerton

Published February 08. 2013 05:03PM

The Palmerton Area Democratic Club will meet Tuesday, Feb. 12, 7 p.m. at Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown. The featured topic will be "Issues Facing Palmerton." Participants will include Palmerton Mayor, Chris Olivia, and Kris Hoffner, and other Democratic members of the Palmerton Borough Council.

"Despite the fact that President Obama's State of the Union Address is also scheduled at 9 p.m. the same evening, our Board decided to adhere to our schedule but adjourn in plenty of time to watch the SOTU either at the Fireline Hotel or at home," said PADC president, Sarina Berlow.

A programming note: Carole Walbert's Report from the Democratic State Committee has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 12.

Upcoming events include the Club's Annual Spaghetti & Meatball Dinner at Big Creek Grange Sunday, April 21, 2013, 1-3 p.m. Volunteers are still needed.

Members are reminded that the Club continues to collect canned goods at each meeting to benefit the food bank run by the Community Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches (CACPAC).

The area covered by the Club includes Palmerton, Bowmanstown, Towamensing Township and Lower Towamensing Township. Meetings are monthly, the second Tuesday of the month, September to May, 7 p.m. at the Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown. Annual dues of $1/year was due Jan. 1.
