A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Wednesday, Feb. 6, for assault and threats, counts stemming from an incident that occurred at his residence along Bridge Street in Mahanoy Plane, Gilberton.

State police at Frackville said Jeffrey McCarthy, 24, allegedly subjected a 22-year-old female from Pottsville to physical contact by pushing her into a cabinet, punching her several times, and pushing her face into a pillow.

Troopers also said McCarthy threatened to kill her. The incident occurred between 4:30 and 7:30 a.m.
