Drug raid in Summit Hill

Published February 07. 2013 05:02PM

Residents along West Iron Street in Summit Hill may have thought they were in a movie Wednesday.

Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos confirmed that a drug raid occurred in the borough yesterday evening and was handled by the state Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and Drug Control. He could not speak on any more details because Summit Hill police only assisted the state agency.

According to eyewitness reports, two vans pulled up outside a home in the 400 block of West Iron Street just before 6 p.m., and a number of police and state officials armed with guns, shields and gas masks exited the vehicles and entered a residence.

Shortly after, officers brought two unidentified individuals out of the home and took them away.

A spokesperson from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's press office said that officials are looking into the investigation, but was unable to release details as of press time.
