A new community youth drama program is under way in Tamaqua, hosted by Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The first production will be an Easter play, titled "And In Heaven the Angels."

The new program will provide children of all ages, through 12th grade, with the opportunity to learn all aspects of theatrical productions, from speaking and non speaking roles to prop design, costumes and more. Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult for moral support.

Scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Feb. 11, the group will then meet from 5-6 p.m. every Monday at Zion's on Greenwood Street. The Easter production will be presented at 5 p.m. on March 23, with refreshments courtesy of Zion's culinary crew.

Adult volunteers are also needed.

During the registration process, children will be evaluated by a team of professionals, including a classroom teacher, nurse and speech therapist. Parents/guardians must supply the child's proof of residency, health and immunization records and the child's original birth certificate.

Office hours at the schools are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church will again host a GriefShare program designed to assist those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The course is Biblically based, but non-denominational.

Meetings will begin on Feb. 6 and will then be held Wednesdays, at 7 p.m., for the next 13 weeks. Meetings will be held in the church conference room, at 223 E. Broad St.
