Published February 01. 2013 05:04PM

A Tamaqua man was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison last Saturday after he was picked up by police on an outstanding warrant.

Patrolman Peter Wysochansky was on patrol when he observed Arthur William McMahon Jr., 23, in the area of the Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits Store, 137 N. Railroad St. The officer was aware of a warrant issued for McMahon's arrest in connection with a forgery incident from Jan. 12 when the suspect allegedly attempted to cash a stolen check.

McMahon was video arraigned before duty District Judge David Platchko, Port Carbon, on felony charges of forgery and misdemeanor counts of theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Bail was set at 10 percent of $5,000.

Unable to post bond, McMahon was incarcerated in the county prison in Pottsville.
