Two persons were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, after they were caught stealing during Christmas week in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said Tyler Desoto, 27, and Kia M. Evans, both of Tobyhanna, were arraigned and jailed. Bail for Desoto was set at $30,000.

They were arrested after separate incidents.

Evans was charged after police were called at 3:15 p.m. Dec. 24 to Bill's ShopRite in Mount Pocono, where the store's loss prevention personnel detained her after she tried to steal two large toys valued at $154.48 by exiting the store without paying for them.

Desoto was charged after police were called at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 26 to the Wal-Mart store in Mount Pocono. Police said his arrests stem from incidents on four days in November in which he switched price tags on merchandise to get a lower price on the merchandise that he later returned to the store and got cash for the full value of the items.
