St. Joseph's to host polar plunge

St. Joseph Regional Academy, Jim Thorpe, will host a "Be Cool for Our School" Polar Plunge on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Mauch Chunk Lake in Jim Thorpe. Registration is $35 and begins at 9:30 a.m. The first plunge starts at 11 a.m. All proceeds go toward operating costs for the school.

The event will feature Amanda Salovay, the principal of St. Joseph's, as one of the "premiere plungers."

Salovay has promised to plunge if students collect enough monetary pledges to meet their fundraising goal of $10,000. She will plunge to different depths at various levels, which include up to the ankles for $1,000, up to the knees at $5,000, up to the waist at $10,000 and completely submerged for over $10,000.

St. Joseph Regional Academy is a local Catholic school dedicated to providing a strong educational program that teaches Christian values and emphasizes academic excellence and community service.
