Gail Maholick/TIMES NEWS Linda Schoenberger, left, president of the Weissport Recreation Committee and Tammy Solt, right, treasurer, of the Weissport Recreation Committee; present a check of $100 to Lynette Moyer, center, for winning the 2013 Weissport Christmas Light Contest.
A Weissport home with an illuminated Santa and his reindeer on the porch roof brought a first place in the Weissport Recreation Committee's annual Weissport Christmas Light Contest.
Winning first place was Lynette and Arland Moyer of 302 White St.
Lynette said that she put up most of the decorations herself, except for those on the roof, which her husband did. She said it took her several days to finish decorating.
The home has Frosty on the porch, plus plenty of blow ups and lighted decorations in the side yard. There is a moving snow globe, candle snowman, and manger scene. Their display includes music and plenty of Santas, which includes a lighted Santa, sleigh and reindeer on the porch roof, Santa waving from the porch and more Santas in the yard.
As first place winner, the Moyers were awarded a check of $100.
Second place winner was Gene Kershner of Franklin Street.
The home is ablaze with laser lights covering the outside and there is a lighted angel on the porch. The side yard also has a lighted display.
Kershner said that he purchased the laser light display last year, but added to it this year to make it brighter.
He was awarded $75 for his efforts.
Third place winner was Debbie Sterling. Her display had plenty of lights. She was awarded $50.
Judges were Mark and Diane Hoffman and Lyle Christopher.
